The dampener was fairly dramatic on my 1200 MKII. The arm has very low bearing friction and the dampener settles this down. This is especially effective with the Denon DL103 and 301II cartridges.
I would rate the ISO feet and outboard power supply as other good mods. Two cheap modes that are very effective are flipping the stock mat upside down. KAB sells the heavy original mat for the 1200 if you have a later one with the lighter mat.
Final cheap mod and I hate cable mods but, is to replace the RCA leads. I used Canare Mic cable and RCA ends which were like a whopping $12.00 from Markertek.com. This cable is 22pf per foot and can be ordered in various colors, I used red and black.
