It seems to me that your model would be for mating of two surfaces that are initially flat.I thought that you were assuming a radiused pivot that under pressure, flattened up against a harder flat plate. This is presumeably a closer model to the 3-1 cup to pivot radius ratio you mentioned earlier.
The curved surface you mentioned in your latest email is presumeably a flat top pivot fitting into a cup.
