Re: A Rega Audio Note table cart scenario...

I understand that AN's IQ 1,2,&3 are among the 1000 series variants Goldring makes for other firms. Apparently some of these variants are signficantly different from the Goldring originals.

I've not heard any of Goldring's own cartridges and the only 1000 series variants I've heard are the AN ones. I recall an article that compared some 1000 series variants and particularly liked the Rezon Reca.

The table I remember the AN IQ-2 on was Chris's, not Lou's. Chris and Lou both live in Victoria and I see them quite regularly at Sound Hounds. If you want to get in touch with either of them, email me.

Lou's second table is a modified Rega but I'm not sure what cartridge he has on it.

I've got a Shure M97 and I would describe it as inoffensive but not too interesting to listen to. To my ears, my V15III is streets ahead of it. FWIW Chris's IQ-2 sounded a lot better than the V15III when played side by side on different turntables.

Regards

David

PS: I've just been listening to your old Sugden A48B through a pair of Snell EII's. Sounds prettty damn good to me.
