No, Ozzy. I'm dismissing any advice. I appreciate all of it...including yours. Why don't we just cut out the bickering and start over? Is that cool with you? I mean you no harm.My vinyl is in serious trouble. The one thing I am sure about it my setup. I am EXTREMELY meticulous when it comes to that aspect of the game. I've been experimenting with VTA and that has helped some....but it's not worth agonizing over until I get A) a decent phono stage and B) a good cartridge. In the meantime, my image on a mono lp is dead center and doesn't change at either end of the lp. On a clean lp, I'm not getting any groove distortion or sibilance and I can track all but the last band on the HiFi News test lp without any problems.
I'm glad you told me this about the Jolida. It just confirms what I've already been experiencing. I've tried it with Mullard, Amperex Bugle Boy, and Telefunken tubes and I think it's a dog. I am just about to pull the trigger on a Bottlehead Seduction, but figured I would ask here first. It's interesting that nobody seems to consider this one worthy of mention, so perhaps I shouldn't act so quickly on that.
In any case, Ozzy, I'm sorry for any misunderstanding between us.
