Re: See this thread....

Henry I looked at your previous posts, and I have no idea why, but Rega's are not reputed to be good an Vintage Thorens Tables, perhaps it's the 3 point suspension set up and they're at their best with unsuspended designs ?
Also Thorens TT's in general are VERY sensitive to placement any Thorens I've ever owned did it's best on a wall rack or a well thought out isolation platform, this property alone may well explain your sibelance problem.
TD 125's definately also require their suspension to be properly tuned, there is at least one excellent article on Thorens suspension tuning on the Analog Department, and there are numerous threads here and perhaps on the FAQ as well, tuning the suspension is not really
complex just very tedious (at least in my case)
You might also want to try the TD 124 rubber mushrooms I've heard a number of TD 125 owners report positive experiences replacing the springs with the mushrooms (the mushrooms aren't overly expensive as they are being manufactured currently), I don't know the source, but I see them in eBay regularly) Linn springs is another well known TD 125 option.
Having the suspension set up correctly and proper placement often has
a seriously profound influence on the sonics of TD 125's in particular but seenmingly Thorens in general.

The one option you might want to look into is simply make another arm board (super easy) and find a medium to medium high mass Vintage tonearm for you DL-103r and sell the Rega or use it somewhere that will make use of it's considerable talents like a Modded Lenco ?

I now have 3 vintage AT medium mass tonearms 2 AT 1006 mk II's and a AT 1009 and they are all superb with MC's, very easy to set up easy to live with and really cheap, I got one last year for $70 on eBay UK, I paid $150 for the AT 1009 incl. shipping from Japan.
And I'm virtually certain it would make the DL 103 sing an your Thorens I have one of the AT 1005's on a separate armboard for my TD 125 MK I and it works wonderfully so far with a BPS, Dyna 10 x 5 and an Ortofon X-3 (I don't own a low output MC presently) but at the carts are all fairly low compliance.

If you try these tactic's I'd appreciate hearing how it worked.
