Classical & Turntable Score

Last Saturday I stopped just around the corner when I saw a turntable beside the road at a garage sale. The turntable was a NAD 5125 and there was a box of about 70 classical records beside it. 5 minutes and $12 later, I was putting both in my car. The turntable had an AT cartridge in good condition and my son now has a surprising good sounding turntable.
The records turned out to be quite old and interesting (at least to me) and generally in very good condition. I’m staring to listen to them as I work.
I just played RCA LCT 1014 Rachmaninoff playing his Concerto #2 with the Philadelphia Orchestra (not sure which performance)
Now I’m listening to Angel EMI 35321 Gieseking playing Schumann with Karajan and the Philharmonia. It looks and plays like it has hardly been played before. Much better than most Angels I’ve heard.
Next up is Decca DL 9574 Beethoven Serenade in D Op 25 and Trio in C Op 9 #3, J Baker, J Fuchs, L Fuchs & H Fuchs
Then a whole lot of Decca Beethoven Sonatas with Kempff and one old RCA with Schnabel.
So many records. So little time!

David
