I think the arms relationship to the platter is more relevant VTA
and generally it's easiest to use a mounting template which is just like a little scale blueprint with the correct dimensions pivot center to spindle, overhang etc. you can just look at photo's of Linn tables and look at the approximate relationships and then use the the pivot center to spindle distance. Generally most arms are more or less parallel with the platter.
I think there is a fair amount of elbow room or latitude before you actually run into trouble I've installed a couple of tonearms and didn't encounter any problems and sadly I'm the type who will screw up if it's possible, particularly when I get uptight or nervous.

BTW is The Linn arm going on a lenco ? The reason I wonder is the Linn arms have the same dimensions as the stock lenco arm.
