Wouldn't it pull the platter out of balance? Imagine a suspended turntable and that that the oil is initially slightly to one side. As the platter rotated, inertia would pull the platter to the side of the platter with more oil. This would set the whole suspension swaying and increase the force pulling oil in that direction till the oil was as off center as it could get. It would sure look cool but I wouldn't expect it to work very well. It would also tend to slow the time the platter takes to reach full speed (assuming it does not do so until the oil is also up to full speed)
