People keep buying 'em because they really do something wonderful in the upper bass/lower midrange area. Even the cheapo's. They need to be matched with a good medium mass arm, then you won't see the Grado dance. The hum is of course because they're unshielded, which means you need a table whose motor isn't under the platter. You mind these things, they can be very good performers. Not much you can do about the inner groove mistracking-that's one reason why I went with a Shure.
