Re: f/u to "dumb" cartridge question

Sometimes the answer you get depends upon the person you speak to. When I first spoke to Shure a few years ago I was told that the M97xE would sound better than the V15III and almost as good as the V15VxMR.

This turned out to be poor advice (at least for me)and I now have a little used M97xE sitting in the drawer. I'm sure that the V15VxMR they suggested to you would be great but its 4x the price of the replacement stylus.

The person who handles the stylus replacement program is Barbara Leboy (800) 516-2525. The web site is link is below. Shure call it a "service fee".
I have got a replacement VN35MR stylus from shure twice (one for a V15III and one for a V15IV), the last one being a few months ago.

The $50 replacement deal requires you to return a Shure V15 III Stylus to them. You are up for the cost of posting the old stylus back to them but the $50 includes the cost of shipping the new one to you. There are a number of different Shure V15III stylus types but I believe that they are all interchangeable and it should not matter which of them you return. If you have a non - Shure stylus, you are probably out of luck as far as the $50 deal is concerned though you should be able to buy a new Shure VN35MR for about $100 or so.

Don't know if that helps but good lick.

Regards

David
