If I was buying new I would go for the MK5G. KAB Acoustics sells the dustcover hinges and the earlier heavy platter mat which do not come with the new versions. You can add the KAB fluid tone arm dampener which takes it to a much higher level if you want to keep the stock arm.
The tone arm plate on all of the SL1200s comes off with a screwdriver and it is simple to make a new blank for whatever arm you would like to mount. It would be nice to have a SL120Mk5 straight from Technics without arm though.Ron-C
