V15 alternatives and real costs

Assuming that your existing stylus is old, I would get a new stylus for the V15VMR anyway through the Shure cartridge exchange program.

In making a decision it is interesting to compare the real costs including replacement.

Assuming that any of the cartridges is good enough that it would be worth replacing once if the stylus broke or wore out. Note that there may be less risk of breakage with the Shures.
I am also assuming that you are currently set up to handle the moving coil options without extra phono preamp or transformer costs.

V15VMR: 1 stylus replacement now and one future replacement = 2 x $50 = $100
V15VxMR: One cartridge now and one future stylus replacement = $200 + $50 = $250
AT-OC9ML/II: 2 new cartridges = $250 + $250 = $500
Benz: Two cartridge tradeins = $895 + $895 = $1799

This is a pretty steep cost curve and we already know that you like the cheapest option as much as the most expensive one.

One option I would throw into the mix is a Goldring 1000 series variant. The best sounding Rega I have heard had an Audio Note line contact version that lists at about $500 Canadian. The Reson Reca, which I have not heard, is another variant that gets excellent reviews

One other thought. Will the VN5xMR stylus fit the V15MR body? If so, will Shure trade that for your VN5MR?

regards
David
