I've read that the Grado Sonata is a beautiful sounding cartridge for the money (anywhere from $450 to $500 new). Trouble is, I once had a Grado Black cartridge with a Thorens turntable and it produced a hum. I'm gun shy about trying a Grado again but I like its sound and have heard nothing but good things about the Sonata.I have a Music Hall MMF-7 turntable with a detached motor. Will this eliminate the possibility of a Grado hum?
I'm looking at upgrading to a VPI, Rega, or Linn within the next year. Will the Grado Sonata generate a hum with these tables?
Many thanks for your help.
