I was dropping off some junk at the local tip today and someone had left a Dual 1216 with a VRii stylus so I grabbed it. The cartridge is bulky with an unusual cantilever and only two pins. Two wires connect to each pin.
I found one post that mentions a GE VRii mono stylus once used by AM radio stations. Sounds like that is what I have.
The diamond is conical and seems OK, when viewed with a Radio Shack 100x hand held microscope, The cantlever is a twisted flat bar and the tip seems to be bent up so the top of the stylus leans back toward the arm pivot.
Does anyone know anything about these? Are they any good? Are they for mono LPs, 78s or both?David
