I agree that is probably not the arm or bearings.

I recall postings that adding weight to the headshell can change the natural frequency of the arm/cartridge combination and get rid of the tracking problems Grados sometimes have with light arms like the SMEIII.

I don't know if you have the headshell weights that come with the arm but an easy thing to try would be to stick a bit of Blutack on top of the headshell and reset the tracking weight. That would also give a little bit of damping. It's easy, it may solve the problem and its easy to reverse.
