Re: Anyone using an APT Holman Pre? I need a bit o' help...

I'm not using one but I just looked into this.

The specified loading for the V15XMR is 47k ohms in parallel with 250pF capacitance. I assume that your cartridge is the same.

This includes arm wiring, interconnects and phono input.

I believe that you would set the preamp to 47k ohms as the other resistances will be relatively low.

Measure the other capacitances if you can. If not then I would assume that the arm capacitance is low if you have fine wiring. My interconnects generally range from 15 to 40 pF/ft including RCAs. Yours are probably similar. The interconnect that came with my SME series III is 100 pF total. If yours is the same, I would set the pre amp for 250 - 100 = 150 pF.

Regarding the manual.
I see that a buddy just sold an Apt on Ebay and has a scanned copy of the owner's/service manual. You may find it on his web site (Link below). If not, contact him. I just phoned him and he would be glad to help you out.

Regards

David
