Re: Shure V15 III Stylus Source

Too bad he didn't have the old stylus!
Even so, I would definitely get a new stylus for it. The V15 III is a classic that still sounds very good. It has been in demand for 30 years and will probably still be in demand in 30 years time

The link given by Steve6 below has the VN35MR for $87, a lot better than $180! This compares to the M97XE at $89 from the same source.

I have both cartridges. In my experience, the m97xe is not in the same league as the V15III / VN35MR combination. I have tried them on two turntables with a lot of different amps and speakers. The V15 was better every time.

Another thing to think is long term value. Whatever you get now, the stylus will eventually wear out. If you get the VN35MR, you will probably be able to replace it at very low cost from Shure just as you could now if you had the original damaged stylus.

Hope that this helps
regards
David
