Great 35 mm film Mercs:
Top 5(my pics): 90305 Encore Bryon Janis amazing solo piano, SR 90313 French Ballet with Paray/Detroit, 90246 Copland: Appalachian Spring Dorati/LSO(must be FR pressing RARE), 90316 Vienna New School SPECTACULAR- maybe the best sounding orchestral Merc, Nutcracker(only RFR). 90303 Dvorak: Cello Concerto with Starker/Dorati LSO is also mighty fine.
As stated by others- avoid Columbia pressings(CBFR, etc.)
The columbia pressing usually sound bass shy.Supposedly, Mercury is releasing 3 channel SACDs of some of these soon. These should be superb if remastered with care.
Sid Marks did a great job reviewing the Mercs in TAS over a 10 year period. Essential reading for lovers of these great LPs.
