Tony Barclay was a very nice gentleman. Later they moved their operation to Poughkeepsie, NY. While visiting him there towards the end of the company's existence, he gave me a lovely old Ampex F-44 tube deck. The machine actually had a rubber band operating as one of the belts! You can pick up clean Otari 5050 decks for a pittance on ebay now. Just be sure to get a low hours, well maintained example.
