Charles King borrowed the tape from me that was used at VSAC. It was an old 1958 factory 7 1/2 ips pre-recorded two track tape on the Soundcraft label. They were given away as a bonus tape if you purchased some of their blank reels. It was never released on vinyl. The tape deck is a Stellavox that is battery powered. Charlie's deck is playback only and has quarter and half track heads. It will play at speeds from 3 3/4 to 30 ips! It is similar to a Nagra IV-S, but smaller(and better sounding). They were generally used for film recording. They are lovely decks that used very simple electronics(5 transistors per channel in playback amp). See a pic of the Stellavox at www.enjoythemusic.com under Steve's coverage of vsac2003. I use one myself and love the sonics and lovely Swiss build quality.
