Analogue Addicts has a Linn FAQ that based on the Serial Number tells you roughly when it was manufactured and has a history of the various production improvements and describes which can be retrofitted to earlier models and which can't. I believe there is a link to this site at the Turntable Heaven site (which is part of HiFi heaven). I don't have the links available at the moment but can get these for you if you wish.
