Re: Fear, and buying a used Linn LP12...

I think the prices as of late for LP 12's have been kind of high. At least that's for the one's I have tracked. Have you checked Audiogon? I think with enough patience and research you should be able to get a Lp 12 that will make you very happy. The key is finding one that has been well taken care of. Old doesn't have to be bad because a lot of tables have been updated. I myself went from a MMF2 to a LP12/Cirkus/Valhalla/Akito and it was a world of difference. When I put an Ittok on it along with a moving coil cart, it got even better. I think one could easily get a LP12/Cirkus/Valhalla/Ittok for around $1000. I now have a different one with a Lingo PS. I got a great deal on it compared to what I have seen going lately. If you want a LP 12, look at Audiogon every day and wait for the good deal to come up. None right now IMO.
Also, look at the link below and in the meantime look at the Setup guides and see if it's something you could do by yourself. At first it seems dautning but it's actually kind of fun once you get the hang of it.
