Re: Cryogenics of audio gear?

Cables, yes......wholeheartedly.

Cocobolo plinth, no.

Aluminum and PVC platters......perhaps. They won't be harmed. Sonically, it would be a guessing game, and you aren't A--B'ing them (are you?) to determine the benefits.

The bearing....definitely.

The motor? Perhaps, although I would investigate whether there are any adhesives inside the pod that might be affected.

Same for the tonearm. Investigate THOROUGHLY what materials are inside the tonearm. If there are any adhesives or silicon products, I would avoid the cryogenic treatment as those materials do not tolerate the deep temperatures well. Silicon in particular tends to shrink. I KNOW.

The Foreplay and Seduction circuitry? And tubes. Certainly. We're dealing with wire and solder primarily. And transformers have been successfully treated (just ask Dan Wright of ModWright) without harm.

But PLEASE, PLEASE consult someone in the business, such as Charles with Cryogenics International. He's been treating a myriad amount of differing materials since 1986. He KNOWS. His phone number is 480-991-0299. Please use me as a referral if you wish. I've been doing business with him for nearly one year. Most highly recommended for courteous service, professionalism, and knowledge. His website is linked below. Be sure to click on the audio page for good information as well.
