Mass in conjunction with rigidity works very well, Mike. The stands that Chris and I co-designed (in my Teres days) present a good foundation for a granite slab or a sandbox.Rather than belabor the point here, Peter and I have quite a bit to say about siting turntables in the FAQ's section on our website. This applies to 'tables from the VPI, Eurolab/Scheu, Verdier, Teres, Redpoint school, and not to suspended 'tables like Linn's, Merrills, and AR's.
Curiously, my good buddy Keith F. has had great success using one of our travelling sandboxes (which went to VSAC) with his Oracle Delphi V. The Oracle, along with a couple of Thorens 'tables and an old Sota Star Sapphire III are the only suspended 'tables which have responded well to a massive base.
Cheers,
Thom @ Redpoint
