I just purchased a Linn LP 12 with a Karma cartridge and although the sound is great, I have a low power (30 watt) tube amp with lower sensitivity (86db) floor standing speakers and I have to crank the amp up to get any real volume from the system. I'm using a Rotel 970BX phono stage, which doesn't list gain in the specs anywhere that I have found.
According to the LP12 FAQ the Karma's output is .2mV. Would a higher output cartridge (.3 - .4 mV) get me higher volume?
Any other suggestions other than getting a higher powered amp or more sensitive speakers?
Thanks
Harry
