One of my all time favorite cars.
The 240 was the real deal.
The 260, 280 and 300 were bloated boats in comparison.
A friend at the time had a '62 XKE. His brother had a brandy new 240.
One night we set out to see which had the higher top end.
At 120 we all chickened out. The 240 was about at its limit and the XKE had a wicked shimmy in the front end.
Glad I lived to tell the tale.
Given my choice of the two, to drive, I'd take the 240 every time.
Sweet ride.
Dean.
