Nice one Darryl,
A well observed and written treatise on why someone should...or shouldn't make the move to vinyl.
I have made comparisons between a mid 1980's Linn with a black Ittok XVII/Dynavector 10x4 and a Naim CD2. Here we have a $1,200 TT against $4,000 CD. The Naim is a damn fine CD player but after comparing 15 LP's to the same CD's it was very clear that:
Records have a much wider dynamic range than CD's.
Records have much better imaging.
Records have much better inner detail.
Records reproduce the emotional quality of the work much better than the digital equivalent. After this test I sold all my CD's, uprated my Linn and wnet loony on buying records. I now have 4000+.
Happy hunting Darryl,
Mark
