Made in the USA

I have never owned a VPI turntable, but I have lusted after the higher end models for years. Maybe some day before I die one will cross my path that I can afford.

Trying to manufacture anything, and make a profit, in the USA is extremely difficult if not impossible, especially in the audio industry. Outsourcing is a risky business, having worked for an old company that made woolen products in the Pacific Northwest, I know firsthand. My company shut down all the US plants, laid off 2,800 factory workers and sent the work to various places in Latin America (thank you NAFTA and CAFTA)and found out the hard way that the original US made products were of far superior quality. How they were able to put made in the USA labels on products made out of the USA is still a mystery. The 1 per-center owners are still in the clothing business, probably as a tax write-off for some of there other ventures. Whatever it takes to keep the yachts afloat...

Kudos to VPI for keeping it in the USA.
