Well as it turned out the hum was not totally gone, still had it at high volumes with vibrations you can feel on the plinth. The remedy? My speakers (the clue) are designed to be positioned no farther than 2 1/2" from the rear wall and angled 22 degrees towards the listening postition. I had the inside corners 1/4" from the wall. I moved the speakers out from the wall to about 1 1/2", replaced the Sorbothane pucks inside the VPI Jr. with (4) Herbie's Big Soft Tall Tenderfeet, replaced the plywood shelf supplied with the Target Wall Shelf with a 1 1/4" thick maple cutting board I made from tongue & groove gym flooring and added (4) Herbie's Small Fat Dots between the steel frame and the maple board.
WOW what a difference, no more hum, bass and lower midrange now very detailed and fast.
Very pleased with the Herbie's products ...
