At least 30 years old, I would think. It needed more than a recap, my tech said it could use new IC's. There are 3, according to the schematic. The cost was prohibitive. I did have another JVC TT-71 that was in service for a few years before I sold it, no problems with that one. I also had a Denon that went bad like the JVC. The only other direct drive I would consider would be a Technics SL1200.
