I use an end of LP lift device, that's all I need. I think the main question is how much automation is really necessary and who is going to do the manufacturing and at what price. I have seen enough cheap plastic crap that doesn't really get the music out of an LP, seems that recent converts to vinyl aren't willing to go the extra mile and spend enough to get a decent turntable.

Look at the better automatic direct drive turntables produced 30 years ago, how many are still in good condition and how many were dumped off at the nearest Goodwill when the auto functions quit working correctly and parts aren't available anymore to do a repair.
