I do some turntable repair, tonearm rewiring, set-up, etc. I try and charge a reasonable amount, just enough to compensate my time. If I can get people to enjoy vinyl, teach a little about set up, alignment, LP cleaning, that is the best way to pass on the enjoyment of vinyl. Going to some of the shops around town can be a definite turn-off as far as what you might pay for a simple 20 minute adjustment or repair. Waiting a month to get a repair done and then paying $60+ for a simple adjustment is a good way to turn people off to this hobby.
If I can do a little teaching along with getting a turntable running better, it will keep people spinning their vinyl.
