I had a 208 a few years ago and installed a Jelco 250ST, mounting distance is within a millimeter of the original Empire arm. I also have an Empire 208 that I just purchased, waiting for delivery. I plan on removing the Empire arm and installing a Jelco SA-250. I will have to remove a small amount of the top plate to accommodate the SA-250's 214 mm mounting distance. It has a standard removable headshell.

They are a superb turntable for the price.
