I have a rosewood body on my 103D, I didn't notice any adversity in it's ability to sound good. But truly the only way to compare a wood bodied 103D vs. original plastic body is side by side.
Have you thought of removing a few grams of wood from the wood body? A handheld belt sander and a steady hand and you could thin out the sides. Just a thought.
