In Reply to: Seeking an individual who can rebuild my Empire 980 tonearm. posted by Mr Blue Sky on October 9, 2013 at 14:23:06:
I am reporting back, as I said I would, on my experience with Jim Howard at Applied Fidelity. I would not recommend his services nor would I ever send him a piece of my gear again. My experience, unfortunately, echos that of the individual in this thread who posted the disparaging comments previously. I have all the emails to document my interaction with him as well. I will keep it brief by saying that I experienced empty promises, broken commitments, unanswered emails, changing stories, excuses, etc. He strung me along for months until he finally returned my tonearm which he was unable to repair. He also performed some unauthorized, unrequested cosmetic restoration to the unit, which I did not appreciate. Aside from the fact that he actually seems like a pretty nice guy, he did not keep his word and his service, or lack thereof, was a monumental disappointment.
