Actually , you are right and WRONG.It will work but in unpredictable way.
On PH7 you can set up the input impedances at 100, 200, 500 1K 47K . With 1k input on Hashimoto sut it will reflect 2.5 Ohm load to cart and the gain will be less than half . IT actually works but without proper measuring rig the results are "I like it but sounds little weird" Proper way to do it is zobel circuit the way Jensen publishes with thier SUTs .
Everytime you add parallel resistor to the output of step up transformer it is not terminated properly to 47k anymore and you can throw away manufacturer spec curve .That's the reality of SUT loading. Looks like those ARC phono preamps are just lemons in some regard although they not sound bad at all.
