Back in the 1960's my parents bought a huge console stereo made by a Texas company, Curtis Mathis. It never worked right, it actually had tubes, but there was intermittent sound from one channel. So I bought a Dual 1015, a Scott integrated amp and ran wires from my bedroom to the speakers in the console, sounded great! I eventually made some DIY speaker cabinets with Electro Voice dual cone drivers for my bedroom.
At age 14!
