Ok , not clunkers but what so special about them ?
Refined ,quiet drive system ?-certainly not
out of ordinary bearing ? pretty good but nothing special
wonder platter ?-nope , not at all and additionally pathetic top plate interface witch a clutch which at the beginning of the frenzy everybody tried to discard blaming it for ringing and all sort of coloration. Now, after garage engineers posted on forums that that tin cap actually sounds great everybody slapped themselves in the head and "heard it too'" it surely sounds great and whats more keep that deck period looking;)
Surely in no time Doodly in styrelophile got himself one too and having acquired confidence tweaking motor with a rubber band in his wife's Rega P3 "refurbished" that 124 too , and behold -he changed direction like folks on Audiogon. He surely knows his audience well :)
