flat mechanical,pushed sound almost anything will be better .Old VPI Scout will '" wipe the floor " with that old clunker . Too bad you're "bought in" the recent fad and spent a small fortune without a second thought . I recently bought a phono stage from such afficionado . Custom made phono by Boulder ,badly wired out of phase effectively playing mono. He sold his vinyl rig discouraged.
one should stay away from "custom units made in garages '" just look at Thomas Shick web page,
,ridiculously priced tonearms made from wooden sticks and resurrected from the dump vintage dreck priced like SOTA units. W
