I buy LP's all the time on Ebay, but mostly from established record sellers. I've been burned maybe twice in the last few years, and the sellers refunded my money pronto.I especially go after the "make an offer" LP's, surprising what I've offered and the sellers accepted.
Unfortunately, in the Portland, Or. area, LP's at the Goodwills are pretty much gone through and what's left is priced so high to be beyond absurd.
