RE: I wonder who'd buy this in the US?

Rega wants to set a foot in High End market with their lo end market ideas.
Who knows maybe those rich fools sometimes do sit , compare and listen to equipment their designated associates are buying for them? I for example am happy (not so much for the sound , that for the price tag is rather mediocre )that my p9 looks like $80 trift store find. Ghetto tugs wont even think of taking it whnen they brake into my house .
One reviewers once said that Hi-Fi market in UK became strange. They RD not to improve products as much as make them cheaper to manufacture.

Mike Manning owned one of the very first Rega turntables ever made... A Planet excluding arm marked number 0003 to be exact. He also owned one of the first loudspeakers ever to come out of the original Rega factory in Park Street, Southend.
That was many years ago, when Roy Gandy headed up his company as they were just starting out.
From those early days Roy had a burning desire to design and build high quality hi-fi (mainly turntables) at prices to which most folk could aspire.

He actively shunned advertising and magazine reviews, actually stating that he would rather that people chose Rega because they liked what they heard, and were not swayed by what they read. He also stated that he very much prefered a 'quality over quantity' approach from his dealers.

Sadly, for the last couple of years now, it appears that Roy's original business ethic (one which we supported and championed) seems to have changed dramatically. Now the company that he once ran seems to be more interested in turnover than actual quality of service and back-up.

The new sales regime's ethic, in our honest opinion, leaves very much to be desired. In fact 'ethical' is NOT a word that can be used here.
We are not prepared to bow to sales pressure from either Paul or Rob, and it is with this in mind that we have decided that after January 1st 2012 will no longer stock Rega products (apart from service spares).

We MUST point out that we will continue to give full support to all our many loyal Rega customers from over the last 30 years with regards spares and service.
After all, nothing counts more than experience, and we have many years of this rare commodity under our belts.

We wish the 'new' Rega regime all the best of 'long term' luck. May your new captains, Paul and Rob, steer the Good Ship Rega wisely and not headlong into the abyss....there are too many products already down there in the dark!
