RE: Dual 1229Q - What can I expect ?

I had a refurbished 1219 for several months, it really had the idler wheel drive sound, and very quiet for an idler turntable. All the auto functions had been removed as well. But it had tonearm issues, hum/buzz whenever you touched the headshell and I could never completely get it quiet. Even rewired it twice, but eventually I took off the tonearm and replaced it with a Linn Basik tonearm. No hum and it worked extremely well on the Dual.

My very first turntable, purchased in 1969, was a Dual 1019.

Good luck with yours! It should serve you well.
