I haven't listened to all of the older Bernstein/Mahler with the NY Phil, but they do sound good, performance wise. My biggest complaint is with vinyl quality, kind of hard to do serious listening when the pressing quality is so bad that quieter passages are drowned out by noise. I had a near mint copy of the complete symphonies box set, perhaps they weren't a good pressing? Vinyl looked like it had never been played, and they were cleaned twice on my Nitty Gritty, but to no avail. Every disc was noisy.
