The issue was whether the Shelter, due to design or the fact that it is a LOMC would be considered noticeably more "musical" than the Dynavector, regardless of the turntable used.
The answer would be; not in my experience. Original Dynavector XX-1 HOMC with boron cantilever is/was a very musical cartridge. It's descendent DV-20X is far lesser cartridge in that department and SS retip will strip it of the little what was left in it from original design.
Shelter 501 for $500 was one of the best cartridges available at any price and not a budget cart like DV-20X. No wonder people were ready to pay $2500 for it. AFAIK some Rega dealers recommend everything BUT Shelter carts on Regas. As far as Unipivot arm is concerned it is set it and forget it in my and my friends opinion.
