Spend $2000 on good kit and than if you don't like it take $500 hit while selling it.Somebody has to buy new tables to support manufacturers and provide steady second hand units, no?? I recommend Audio Note TT1 with their cart. With $500 budget for new you can just get frustrated and loose interest in analog without even having a glimpse at what's possible. That budget for a new one represents boombox level and you don't buy boomboxes to check what audiophile fuss is all about do you? If you can't afford $2K find somebody with good setup or go to dealer with one and you'll know if it's for you or not. I have few tables, carts, arms, preamps bought several hdrs of records and VPI cleaning machine but am to lazy to clean those discs and perform all the ceremonies around them. A lot of records sucks like cd discs do and I just want to finally sit down and be able to listen in peace so maybe analog not for me as much as I'd like it to be.
