What is the vintage gear in question? How far apart are the rca jack centers?
I have some decent (chinese made) gold plated male rca's with teflon center dielectric that might work without their outer casing and some heatshrink instead. They fit nice and snug on even the loosest female jacks I have. I also have some NASA shielded 22g twisted pair silver plated copper shield and conductors in teflon that makes really good sounding IC's. I think it's great stuff and have had very good results with it. The silver plating is very thick, and even when cut it is difficult to see any copper at the tips of the individual strands. I could make you some pairs in any length with the mentioned connectors, I have some black techflex to cover them too, the outer teflon of the cable is white heatshrink tape if looks are a problem. I think the finished overall diameter of the male rca and heatshrink would be about .45", so if you have about .5" between female centers they would squeeze in there just fine.
Let me know if you're interested! Tried to email you this message but it bounced back.
