That was a good discussion. My goal was to compare the sound of the original MC275 Vs reissue 275s or other ones I have which I have changed all of the caps in. Yes I ran the amp up with power tubes out and a small fuse in the variac, .5 amp.
I often hear some say that an original MC275 will sound better than the reissues. My contention is you would have to have a time machine to be sure. Will I change over the 275 to modern parts now? Probably in the future since the value issue is not a concern. I suspect the deeper bass extension I have in my MI75s or a reissue 275 is an issue that modern caps will solve.
