Back in the day ...

...when working for a Carver dealer (mid/late 1980s) we referred to the rated power of Carver amps as "bullshit watts".

Never heard a Carver amp from the era that could play, cleanly, as loud as the competition with half the power.

Especially the "Cube"... a 200-watt amp that couldn't keep up with most 80-watt receivers.

The exception was the M-500. Sounded good and had serious headroom.
