The MC7000 was bassed on the Phillips swing arm design and yes parts are depleated as far as service goes. The earlier McIntosh CD players: MCD7000, 7005, and 7007 had to have a half glass, half steel face plate due to the amount of control buttons. The MCD 7009, 7010, and later units have a full glass faceplate due to the use of the Ingersol Rand water jet glass cutting machine. This machine allows the cutting of many small openings for switches in the glass.
The MCD 7009 and 7010 do use the VRDS high end transport and are great players. The best single box player sound wise is the current MCD205 which is a five disk changer. The later D to A sections are more linear, lower distortion, etc.
