RE: Luxman M-02 headphone question

Hi, Trouser Trout. What impedance are the AT cans? Most likely headphone amp is entirely separate from normal power output. Usually headphone out is part of the pre amp as in Luxman C-12. Get the specs for the M-02 and look at headphone output. If not a gross impedance mismatch which easily
will cause distortion you may have lost a FET/transistor as part of the
headphone driver amp. Lux favored discrete parts even to make their own
op amps. How old are these pieces? Old enough to demand electrolytic replacement? If you are disinclined to do the work yourself you must find an honest Lux-savvy tech. You may want to channel Diogenes. Keep in
mind transistors go extinct all the time. Finding the ones you need builds character. By the way don't go near the water at the opening of
trout season.
